Virtuous Lady Mine, Buckland Monochorum, Tavistock, Devon.

A old specimen collected prior to c1870 from the workings of the Virtuous Lady Mine. This specimen displays a single polysynthetic crystal of quartz with a detachable cap known as capped quartz.

As with a lot of these old specimens the inner crystal has lost part of its termination, the crystal as a whole is fine.

A rare locality specimen.
